The S.S. Sicamous, her sister ships, and the Inland Marine Museum are fortunate in receiving generous support from the community and people of Penticton as well as fans of the historic vessels preserved there.

Your continued generosity helps us maintain, preserve and continue our restoration work on the historic vessels of Okanagan Lake. Donations received also make it possible for the ships to be accessible to the public and for us to set up and maintain the interpretive displays that illustrate life in the early days of the Okanagan and the important roles marine transportation played.

Maintaining and operating our nearly century-old vessels is a demanding task. While a huge amount of the museum’s work is performed by volunteers, especially the restoration of the vessels,  many resources are needed to run our park and preserve our artifacts and archives.

To provide public access and tours, we have an operations manager and during the busy summer months we provide employment and an opportunity to broaden their skills for post-secondary students.

Two Ways To Help

Funding for building displays and exhibits, maintaining our almost-centrury-old vessels, restoring the S.S. Okanagan stern saloon and CN Tug No. 6 as well as funding day-to-day operations come from admissions to the the vessels, providing a facility for events and from donations.

There is very little funding available from federal,or provincial governments these days. We do receive some support from the City of Penticton as well as a BC Gaming Grant to help support operations.

The S.S. Sicamous Restoration Society is a registered Canadian charity and issues tax deducible charitable contribution receipts for donations.

2) Or you can become a Sustaining Donor  through our Pay Pal account where you make a small monthly donation on an on-going basis. Once a year you will receive a tax receipt for your donation.
