The S. S. Sicamous Restoration Society

The S. S. Sicamous Restoration Society was officially organized on May 12, 1988.  The Society was formed around the themes of restoration and preservation, focusing its resources on the S. S. Sicamous.  Over the years the Society has acquired two more ships: the S. S. Naramata, in 1993, and the Canadian National #6, in 2006.

Between 1951 and 1988, the Sicamous had been used for many purposes,  first as a Gyro Club meeting hall and ending as a restaurant.  While the Sicamous had been used, and used well, by 1988 it was in bad shape.  By 2001, the initial restorations were completed.  Today, restorations continue, as they always will.  The Society continues to accomplish the goal it set out to accomplish 23 years ago: to restore and preserve the S. S. Sicamous.
